Just as Anglican Essentials Canada is divided into "Network" and "Federation" groupings, so is Anglican Essentials Ottawa. Network people have come to the sad realization that to regain acceptable Episcopal oversight they will be forced to separate from the Anglican Church of Canada. They formed a group in 2004 called the Anglican Gathering of Ottawa, in anticipation of these events. Federation folk believe that their role lies in remaining within the ACC as a faithful remnant and that they can better minister to ACC members if they are in communion with them. |
have come to this, here is a brief explanatory summary. Jesus told us very clearly that to receive eternal life, our sins must be forgiven, and that He, God in the flesh, was the only one who could forgive us. For years now, in an effort to be politically correct, some leaders in some churches have been suggesting that there could be other ways to Heaven than through acceptance of Jesus as our Lord and saviour. This has led to a loss of belief in the authority of scripture generally in many aspects of our faith. In the Anglican Church, these matters have come to a head over the issue of the blessing of same-sex unions, to the extent that a small group of Canadian Anglicans called the Anglican Network in Canada has accepted Episcopal oversight from a province in South America, the Southern Cone, where the traditional beliefs are still held, as they are in 70% of the worldwide Anglican communion. In the course of the next few months, numbers of Canadian Anglican parishes will join the Anglican Network in Canada, and new churches will be formed for that purpose.
